The Caraiman Cross
A monument raised in memory of war heroes, visible from dozens of kilometres away, on the Caraiman peak.

The Caraiman Cross was built between 1926 and 1928 in memory of the Romanian heroes who fell in World War I. Nearly 30 metres tall, it stands on the Caraiman peak at 2,291 m and can be seen from dozens of kilometres away.
It is recognised as the tallest cross in the world set on a mountain peak.
